Our Short Film Contest also returns with the 2026 theme “wanderlust.” You don’t need to be a pro to enter (!) — all ages and skill levels are welcome.
Road trip adventure, dreamy escape, or surreal journey of the soul: if your story captures the spirit of wanderlust, we want to see it.

Only the screen is the limit.
How many minutes can the short film be?
One to five minutes of length.
How can I submit the short film to FilmFreude Honolulu?
Please upload your production to vimeo or Youtube and send us the link (note: not password protected) via email to filmfreudehonolulu@gmail.com with subject: “FFH Shortfilm Submission”.
Which film formats are accepted?
All formats are accepted.
When is the submission deadline?
At midnight on March 10th, 2026.
When do I hear back from FilmFreude regarding my short film submission?
Our crew will screen the submissions until March 20th, 2026 and will reach out to the contestants accordingly.
Is there price money?
Yes, the winning short film will be awarded $750.
By submitting your short film, you affirm that you hold all necessary rights and permissions for the content, including music, visuals, and any third-party material. The festival reserves the right to disqualify entries that fail to meet submission guidelines or violate copyright laws. Submission does not guarantee selection, and all decisions made by the festival jury are final. By entering, you grant the festival non-exclusive rights to screen your film during the event and use promotional stills or clips for marketing purposes.
Films containing graphic violence, explicit sexual content, or material deemed discriminatory, hateful, or excessively disturbing will not be considered. The festival promotes respectful storytelling and reserves the right to reject any submission at its discretion based on content.
